Historical context and position within the range
This TAMA S.L.P. Mod Bubinga " Artist Model " was created in collaboration with Clay Aeschliman, drummer for Polyphia. It is based on the standard LBU127 and adds two distinctive features: an EVANS Genera HD Dry batter head and a custom Galactic Purple finishing. It retains the unique format of the Mod Bubinga while offering a configuration directly linked to the artistâs preferences.
Within the S.L.P. range, this version favors a distinctive sonic identity over a conventional format. Its 12-inch diameter and 7-inch depth allow for exploring high tunings without sacrificing a full sound. This is an interesting approach for giving the snare a clearly identifiable place within the kit.
Who this snare is for
The LBU127C is particularly suited to intermediate and advanced drummers looking for a compact, precise and consistent snare. It will appeal to musicians inspired by Clay Aeschlimanâs playing, as well as those who want to move beyond standard dimensions and develop their own sonic signature.
Its character is especially well suited to progressive rock, instrumental metal, fusion and modern grooves. It can serve as the main snare in a distinctive setup, or complement a larger snare by providing a contrast in register. Articulated passages and sharp accents are particularly well suited to its format.
