Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
With over 40 years of experience, TAMA designs drum kits aimed at meeting the real expectations of drummers, regardless of their level and budget. The STAGESTAR fits into this philosophy as a very affordable kit, oriented towards "ready to play," while incorporating elements generally appreciated for stability and ease of adjustment.
Who This Drum Kit Is For
The TAMA STAGESTAR is primarily aimed at beginners and intermediate drummers who want a complete acoustic drum kit for home use, lessons, or early rehearsals. Its 20" bass drum format suits versatile styles (pop, rock, funk, variety) and facilitates setup in smaller spaces without sacrificing the overall balance of the kit.
Features and New Additions
This kit emphasizes practicality: the Omnisphere tom mount allows comfortable tom positioning, while the double-braced hardware enhances stability during heavy playing. The double-chain bass drum pedal provides a firmer and more consistent feel, with an additional beater angle adjustment to tailor the response to your technique. The included drum throne, height-adjustable via threaded rods, helps quickly find a stable posture.
Sound
The poplar shells (6-ply, 7 mm) deliver a generally warm and easy-to-control sound, ideal for working on dynamics and achieving a balanced tone at moderate volume. Poplar favors a rather soft attack and moderate sustain, which suits home environments and early rehearsals well.
The included Meinl BCS cymbals offer a coherent set covering the basics: hi-hat for groove, crash for accents, and ride for pulse. A perfect ensemble to start playing in a group and explore different styles without immediately adding accessories.
