Tama Stagestar Fusion 20 - Black Night Sparkle

Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

With over 40 years of experience working with drummers, TAMA develops drum kits designed to be reliable, easy to assemble, and enjoyable to play. The StageStar serves as an entry point into the TAMA universe: an affordable set that incorporates practical technical choices (adjustable tom mount, stable hardware, ready-to-play pack) to offer a serious first kit, suitable for daily practice as well as initial group rehearsals.

Who This Drum Kit Is For

The TAMA StageStar is primarily aimed at beginners and intermediate drummers who want a complete kit without having to select each component separately. Versatile, it suits styles such as rock, pop, funk, and contemporary music very well, featuring an easy-to-handle shell configuration and a footprint appropriate for home, rehearsal spaces, or small stages.

Features and Innovations

The StageStar emphasizes practicality and stability. The Omni-ball tom mount (Omnisphere type) facilitates tom placement for quickly finding a comfortable ergonomic setup. The double-braced hardware strengthens the base of the stands and limits unwanted movement, a real advantage for developing consistent playing. The double-chain bass drum pedal provides a firmer and more precise feel, with beater angle adjustment to tailor the response to your technique. The included drum throne is height-adjustable via threaded rods, convenient for locking in a stable position.

Sound Characteristics

The poplar shells (6 plies, 7 mm) deliver a warm and balanced sound, with a relatively soft attack and controlled sustain. This character makes the kit enjoyable to play at moderate volume while remaining present enough for rehearsals. Poplar is also appreciated for its tuning tolerance: you quickly achieve coherent tones across the entire kit, which helps develop your ear and mastery of tuning adjustments.
