At the Heart of the 400 Series, a Reference Grand Auditorium
The 414ce 2026 continues the legacy of Taylor's iconic Grand Auditorium models by introducing three major performance-focused upgrades. In the 400 Series (Indian rosewood/Sitka spruce), it features new aesthetic attributes- "Weathervane" inlays, black purflings, and a white rosette accented with black & white purflings-while maintaining the "workhorse instrument" spirit of Taylor's most versatile models.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Designed for intermediate players as well as professionals, the 414ce covers a wide range: modern picking, pop/folk strumming, acoustic rock accompaniment, and more nuanced solo playing. The Action Control neck facilitates precise action adjustment according to style (alternate tunings, fingerstyle, or pick playing), while the Claria System ensures reliable direct sound capture from coffeehouse gigs to large stages.
Sound
The solid Sitka spruce top delivers generous dynamics and ample headroom, while the solid Indian rosewood provides deep lows, sparkling highs, and a natural midrange scoop. The "scalloped" V-Class bracing adds warmth in the low end without sacrificing projection or note clarity in tuning. The new long-tenon neck-body joint enhances vibrational coupling for increased warmth and sustain. Plugged in, the Claria System electronics provide a balanced and controlled output: the Mid-Contour knob shapes the body of the sound for instant mix integration.
