A "Studio" Edition Designed as an Alternative to the Standard 414ce
The 414ce Studio follows the lineage of the 400 series by offering the rosewood/spruce tonal DNA cherished by Taylor, in a more accessible version. It retains the solid woods, cutaway, and modern craftsmanship while adopting a streamlined aesthetic and design choices focused on playability and recording performance.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
Versatile by nature, this electro-acoustic guitar suits intermediate to advanced players as well as ambitious beginners. The Grand Auditorium format excels in fingerstyle, strumming, and vocal accompaniment, covering folk, pop/rock, blues, and country. Its smooth playability and comfortable nut width encourage modern playing styles and extended chords.
Sound
Solid Indian rosewood delivers deep lows, crisp highs, and slightly scooped mids, while the torrefied Sitka top provides quick attack, improved stability, and an "open" guitar feel. The V-Class bracing optimizes projection and intonation across the entire neck with generous sustain. Plugged in, the ES2 captures the acoustic character naturally, ideal for studio and stage.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
Prefer phosphor bronze strings Light 12-53 (D'Addario XS type installed from the factory) to maintain balance and dynamics. For transport, a Taylor hard case or compatible Grand Auditorium format case effectively protects the body. Add a quality strap and a body humidifier to preserve wood stability.
