The 618e, the Grand Orchestra flagship of the 600 Series
At the top of the 600 Series, the Taylor 618e embodies Taylor's modern approach to maple: a warmer, more complex voice while retaining its legendary clarity. Its large Grand Orchestra body delivers rare breadth but remains surprisingly manageable thanks to the smoothly profiled neck and precise factory setup.
Who is it for and what styles?
Ideal for intermediate to expert guitarists, the 618e shines in expansive strumming, articulate flatpicking, and dynamic fingerstyle. Its wide volume reserve and subtle responsiveness make it a top choice for solo performers, powerful acoustic accompaniment, and demanding studio recordings.
Sound
The solid Sitka spruce top offers a wide dynamic range and clear articulation. The solid maple back and sides provide definition, quick attack, and transparency that lets your playing express itself. The V-Class bracing combines longitudinal stiffness with lateral flexibility: you gain volume, sustain, and chord accuracy. The large air volume of the Grand Orchestra adds deep lows and impressive projection, while remaining balanced and sensitive to subtle nuances.
Recommended compatible accessories
To maintain the 618e's performance, opt for Medium gauge phosphor bronze strings (compatible with the original setup). The Taylor Deluxe Western Floral hardshell case is included for transport. For amplification, a quality 6.35 mm straight jack cable is perfectly compatible with the ES2. A case humidifier and a hygrometer will help stabilize the instrument in variable conditions.
