An easy-to-play, easy-to-hold, tuned, and versatile 12-string designed for the 21st-century player, ready for stage and studio. With a silent satin finish that nearly eliminates all incidental contact noise with the body, the Builder's Edition 652ce in burst shaded edge finish adopts the smaller Grand Concert (GC) body shape, making it very comfortable to hold. Taylor's GC models have inherent strength in their construction, which works well on a 12-string instrument, contributing to a confident voice and punchy sound that, combined with V-Class bracing, projects and sustains as much volume and sustain as possible.
With V-Class bracing, sound waves bloom more naturally and consistently, offering great note separation—further aided by the double-mounted string anchor system that reduces conflicts between string pairs while facilitating excellent intonation along the neck. On the Builder's Edition 652ce, the torrefied Sitka spruce top is paired with solid maple back for a clear, precise sound that is sensitive to delicate touches but surprises with its power. Infinitely playable, the short 24 3/4" scale length with a 12-fret neck ensures a flexible and responsive feel in the hands, with a pleasant midrange emphasis that contributes to clarity.
As with all Builder's Edition models, ultimate player comfort is ensured—with a double-contour cutaway for easy access to the highest frets, a beveled armrest for smooth arm movement, chamfered body and fretboard edges, Gotoh 21:1 high gear ratio tuners for precise tuning, and a smooth Curve Wing bridge that creates space for the hand.
