The Big Baby in the Taylor Universe
Designed as "the biggest of the small Taylors," the Big Baby BBTe sits between the Baby and a full-size dreadnought. Its 15/16 size retains the volume and roundness of a large body while remaining portable and easy to handle. The arched back reinforces the structure and enhances projection, while the laminated walnut back and sides provide stability and longevity, perfect for everyday life and travel.
Who Is It For and What Styles?
Accessible and reassuring, the BBTe suits beginners as well as intermediate players seeking a reliable acoustic. Its comfort and balanced response adapt well to folk, pop, and country strumming as well as fingerpicking. Thanks to the ES-B electronics, it effortlessly transitions from home to lessons, open mic, or amplified jam sessions, with precise tuning thanks to the onboard tuner.
Sound
The solid Sitka spruce top delivers a clear attack, ample volume reserve, and great versatility. The laminated walnut back and sides with arched back provide clarity, present mids, and firm lows. The X-bracing stabilizes the top and balances the response across the spectrum. The long 25.5" / 648 mm scale length adds definition and sustain, ideal for maintaining brightness in strumming while remaining sensitive to fingerstyle playing.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the best out of the BBTe, choose a set of Phosphor Bronze Light 12-53 steel strings, a standard capo for 6-string acoustic guitars (nut width ~43 mm), and a soundhole humidifier to protect the solid top from humidity changes. The included Taylor gig bag makes daily transport easy.
