A Phaser in the Tradition of the Great Seventies Classics

The phaser is one of the most recognizable sonic signatures of the 70s: a fluid, almost vocal filter movement that makes a clean tone "breathe," thickens a crunch, and gives a hypnotic dimension to leads. The BLOOD MOON PHASER follows this tradition with a 4-stage design and a fully analog circuit, designed to recapture the warm, slightly grainy, and very lively character of vintage pedals.

If you're looking for textures in the spirit of phasers associated with the worlds of David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, or Robin Trower, this pedal targets precisely that territory: an expressive effect, immediately inspiring, adjustable in seconds, and musical even when pushing the modulation.

Who It's For, Which Styles, and Where to Use It

The TC Electronic BLOOD MOON PHASER is aimed both at beginner guitarists wanting their first "plug and play" phaser and at seasoned musicians seeking a simple analog phaser to slip onto a stage pedalboard. It excels in rock, blues, funk, hard rock, psychedelic, and also adds rich texture in ambient settings when placed before delay and reverb.

In practice, it works very well in front of an amp (before overdrive for a "chewy" grain, or after for a cleaner phasing), but can also be used in an effects loop if you prefer to modulate a sound already saturated by the preamp. Its robust format and True Bypass make it a pedal designed for both live and studio use.

Settings and Features: Efficiency Without Menus

The BLOOD MOON PHASER goes straight to the point with a three-knob interface, ideal for quickly finding "the" sweet spot without getting lost in options. Rate controls the sweep speed (from slow, wide pulses to fast movements), Depth sets the modulation intensity (subtle to thicken an arpeggio, more pronounced for a clearly audible effect), and Feedback feeds part of the signal back into the circuit to enhance filtering and resonance.

Feedback is the creative heart of this pedal: low, it keeps a soft and velvety phasing; higher, it emphasizes resonance peaks that can give a more "dramatic" edge, perfect for intros, transitions, or leads that need to stand out in the mix. All this is based on an analog circuit and True Bypass: when the pedal is off, the signal is routed without coloration from the effect.

Regarding power supply, you can choose between a 9 V battery (internal compartment) or a 9 V DC center-negative power supply via the dedicated input. Convenient on a pedalboard: the pedal accepts a power supply capable of delivering enough current for stable use and remains very reasonable in consumption.

The Sound

The sonic signature of the BLOOD MOON PHASER is decidedly vintage: a round, fluid, and "chewy" phasing with sweeps that retain an analog feel under the fingers. On a clean tone, it adds depth and a hypnotic movement, excellent for open chords and funk rhythms. With crunch or overdrive, it adds a swirling dimension that thickens the midrange and delivers the typical "swirl" character of seventies recordings.

Thanks to the Depth + Feedback pairing, you can stay very musical for a discreet phaser (ideal for accompaniment), or move toward more pronounced, almost "vocal" textures suited for solos and psychedelic passages. The dynamics remain responsive: playing harder makes the effect seem more present, and softening the attack makes the movement subtler, helping maintain an expressive phaser rather than a simple "placed effect."
