What Metal EBX Is For
Metal EBX is an EBX expansion for EZbass designed to produce immediately usable metal bass lines with precise articulation and a solid foundation. It is crafted to "cut through" walls of saturated guitars, support high-speed double bass drums, and remain perfectly defined in low chords, massive palm mutes, and dense arrangements. Whether you're building a tight modern metal rhythm, a nuanced progressive passage, or a raw and aggressive section, Metal EBX provides a coherent, powerful, and musical bass foundation.
Main Features
An instrument captured for balanced metal
Metal EBX emphasizes the balance between impact and clarity: firm lows, present low mids, and an attack that can cut through the mix without becoming intrusive. The goal is simple: to achieve a "mix-ready" bass that retains its definition even when the track intensifies, while remaining expressive enough for more open passages and dynamic contrasts.
Three playing approaches to match your production
To adapt to different metal aesthetics, the instrument is sampled with playing options fingerstyle, pick, and slap. Fingerstyle delivers roundness and articulation, pick enhances attack and rhythmic precision, and slap opens up more modern, percussive, or experimental possibilities. This versatility helps maintain credibility regardless of tempo, guitar saturation level, or the bass's role in the arrangement.
Dedicated presets, including a "Clean DI" option
The preset collection covers a wide range of tones, from dark and menacing textures to clear, bright, and highly articulated basses. You also have a "Clean DI" (direct input) preset option for fingerstyle and pick playing, ideal for starting from a clean signal and shaping your processing chain according to your mix (reamping, saturation, parallel compression, etc.), while keeping a reliable starting point.
Modern metal MIDI: faster writing, more authentic results
Beyond the sounds, Metal EBX includes a custom MIDI library inspired by modern metal. It is designed to speed up composition, trigger coherent patterns, and serve as a solid foundation for your verses, choruses, breaks, or bridges. You can use it as-is for quick prototyping, then edit it to fit your tuning, rhythmic phrasing, and intentions (accents, pickups, variations, breaths).
Important note: Metal EBX is an expansion and requires Toontrack EZbass 2 to operate.
