What Toontrack EZbass EBX Is For
This EBX expansion for Toontrack EZbass is designed to enrich your palette of synth basses with hybrid, saturated, and deeply textured sounds. It targets producers who want to move from a "clean and tight" bass to more expressive, thick, or radical basses without spending hours layering and designing textures. Ideal for pop, dance, electronic, ambient, and soundscapes, it also excels whenever a bass with a narrative role is needed: arpeggiated motif, melodic line, drone, or aggressive impact in a drop.
Main Features
"Re-imagined" Synth Bass
The starting point is based on six carefully selected hardware synthesizers that were sampled. Then, the sounds are reshaped through deliberate sound design: layering, remixing, editing, and enrichment with layers of field recording, modular synthesis, granular elements, foley, and various ambiances. The result is a set of organic, lively, and modern basses capable of fitting into a contemporary mix while retaining a more "tactile" sonic signature.
Analog Processing for Warmth and Character
Each sound is individually processed with a "production"-oriented approach: saturation, patching and processing via vintage hardware compressors, equalizers, and external tubes. This step adds a sense of materiality (grain, density, punch) and helps the basses hold their place in the low end, whether you seek a clean foundation or a dirtier, more aggressive character.
Fast Workflow with Presets and Macros
The 85 presets are designed to get straight to the point, with useful categories for real-world situations (General, Aggressive, Creative, Plucked). The 8 macro-commands allow you to quickly customize each preset according to context: enhance attack, control energy, adjust texture, or push character without rebuilding the effects chain. Perfect for quickly iterating between different intentions (subtle verse, wide chorus, edgy drop) while maintaining sonic coherence.
Included MIDI for Frictionless Composition
Besides the sounds, the expansion includes a MIDI library with corresponding bass patterns, featuring essential building blocks as well as basic, melodic, and arpeggiated motifs. This is a real time saver for starting a track, testing harmonic directions, or constructing effective variations and transitions.
