What Is Toontrack Cinematic Grand EKX For?

Cinematic Grand EKX is designed to enrich EZkeys with a prepared piano and hybrid textures intended for music for picture, soundscapes, ambient composition, and any modern production requiring unusual colors. While a traditional piano delivers a "pure" tone, this module emphasizes alternative attacks, crafted harmonics, and overlapping layers to create an immediately evocative sonic signature.

Whether you are composing a soundtrack, an atmospheric pop intro, a suspense passage, or a sonic transition, this piano becomes an expressive "canvas": percussive, muted, airy, or textured, it fits equally well in the background or as a central element.

Main Features

An 1891 Bösendorfer Transformed Into a Sound Design Instrument

The core of the instrument is based on sampling an 1891 Bösendorfer grand piano, captured and then developed into four radically different approaches. The goal is not just to "prepare" a piano but to offer an instrument where fidelity and character meet to produce timbres difficult to achieve with classic effects processing.

4 Preparations for 4 Musical Characters

Bowed provides an organic sustain sensation, almost "bowed," useful for pads and dramatic builds. Plucked emphasizes the attack and hand on the string, perfect for percussive patterns and unusual ostinatos. Damped offers a dull, matte, and close color, ideal for intimate atmospheres or discreet pulses. Harmonic, on the opposite end, exaggerates harmonics and establishes a floating aura, tailored for wide and immersive atmospheres.

Mixing Presets and Ready-to-Record Textures

With 34 mixing presets, you quickly access polished and inspiring sounds. These presets combine one or more configurations and rely on sound-shaping effect chains to instantly switch from a subtle prepared piano to a true cinematic sound fabric.

EZkeys Workflow: Fast and Musical Creation

Within the EZkeys environment, you benefit from a composition-focused workflow: an integrated timeline arranger to structure your ideas, and intelligent transposition to adapt your playing and chord progressions to your track. The result: less technical hassle, more writing, with an instrument that naturally encourages "out-of-the-ordinary" harmonies and textures.
