What is Toontrack EKX Hybrid Harp For?

EKX Hybrid Harp is a sound library designed to move away from "expected" timbres and guide you toward more organic, textured arrangements, sometimes intentionally slightly dissonant. It is aimed at both composers and producers seeking new colors to dress a verse, create a minimalist theme, build tension, or simply generate a lively harmonic material.

The central instrument is a Style 23 harp with an immediately evocative character. Around it, Toontrack has built a set of surprising instruments which, once combined, form a very versatile sonic signature: plucked attacks that transform into pads, floating harmonics, percussive transients, and breaths that give space to the mix. The result: an ideal tool for cinematic, ambient, indie, organic electro productions and all music where texture matters as much as the note.

A Hybrid Instrument Built in Layers

EZkeys Hybrid Harp brings together five individual instruments recorded and then processed (layering, texturing, saturation) to generate unique hybrids. In addition to the harp, you will find a nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle), two harmoniums, a bowed glockenspiel, and a set of ocarinas. The idea is not to use them "as is," but to benefit from their combination to achieve timbres impossible to recreate with a single source.

Immediate Inspiration for Writing

This library was designed as an "idea machine": you start from a harmonic color, explore varied dynamics and attacks, then quickly build a progression, a repetitive motif, or an evolving pad. In a film scoring context, it allows you to quickly move from intention (fragile, dreamy, mysterious, luminous) to a concrete result within the project.

Integrated Production Workflow

The playback engine fits within the EZkeys ecosystem: it facilitates integration within an arrangement and the implementation of musical ideas without breaking the creative flow. The announced features notably include a MIDI library with piano phrases, an arranger with integrated timeline, and an intelligent transposition function, as well as 14 mixer presets to quickly adapt the instrument's place in your production.
