EZkeys Upright Piano EKX is a virtual upright piano instrument designed for musicians, composers, and producers seeking an organic, intimate, and immediately musical tone. While a grand piano can sound broad and bright, the upright piano often delivers a more present midrange, a "wooden" character, and proximity that naturally fits into a mix.

This library is particularly suitable for pop composition, songwriting, indie, mellow jazz, film music, and productions where an expressive piano without heaviness is desired. Thanks to the EZkeys ecosystem, you can also use it as an arrangement tool: start from a chord progression, test rhythmic variations, and quickly harmonize a song structure.

Main Features

A Carefully Sampled Upright Piano

The library is based on a 19th-century Ostlind & Almquist piano (a historic Swedish brand) captured with a high level of detail. The goal is to deliver a warm, rich, and distinctive sound with a marked personality that stands out from more modern upright pianos. Sampling was done in a high-end studio, using a selection of modern and vintage recording equipment.

EZkeys Workflow: From Playing to Final Track

Like other EZkeys titles, this expansion relies on the same software environment and includes essential functions to produce quickly and efficiently: browsing MIDI phrases, building an arrangement, and setting up coherent piano parts throughout a song. The arranger with integrated timeline allows you to organize your ideas into sections (intro, verse, chorus) and adjust the musical intent without wasting time on complex editing.

Intelligent Transposition and Easy Harmony

The intelligent transposition feature is designed to handle more complex chords and follow a song structure while remaining musical. Whether you work from a chord chart or build your progression step by step, the tool helps maintain a logical piano playing style and avoid unnatural mechanical transpositions.

Quick Mixing and Learning

To get straight to the sound, you have mixer presets to quickly adapt the piano's color to your production. A basic music theory lesson is also included, useful for reinforcing fundamentals and better exploiting chord and arrangement functions in a composition context.
