What is the Foundry SDX Bundle for?

The Foundry SDX Bundle is a collection of SDX expansions designed to enrich Superior Drummer 3 with an ultra-useful production-ready drum foundation: detailed takes, realistic dynamics, and strongly characterized room ambiances. The goal is simple: to offer you a versatile starting point for programming, playing, or producing modern drums, while maintaining the freedom to sculpt the sound from scratch (raw sounds) or start from ready-to-mix presets.

Thanks to its three recording environments, the bundle suits both transparent and wide productions (rock, alternative, powerful pop) and styles requiring precision and impact (metal, progressive). It is also an excellent solution if you are looking for a coherent palette to seamlessly move from pre-productions, demos, to final versions within Superior Drummer 3.

Main Features

Three studios, three acoustic signatures

The bundle brings together recordings made in three renowned locations, each providing a different room color. You can choose a tighter, more controlled drum sound or, conversely, a wider, more reverberant ambiance depending on the role the drums need to play in the mix. This diversity of rooms makes it easier to work on varied projects without changing tools or workflow.

Raw sounds for a custom mix

With over 163 GB of untreated audio material, the Foundry SDX Bundle emphasizes flexibility: you start with clean, detailed takes, then shape the attack, sustain, depth, and stereo image according to your aesthetic. This approach is ideal if you like to build your sound within Superior Drummer 3, keeping control over the balance of close mics / overheads / ambiances.

An instrument collection designed for broad coverage

The strength of this "Foundry" series also lies in the breadth of choices: 31 kicks, 41 snares, and over 100 cymbals, in addition to 19 complete kits. This allows you to quickly switch from a tight and punchy set to a more open, massive, or vintage-intended kit, while maintaining a continuity of high-end capture.

MIDI grooves and mix presets: from idea to production

Each SDX includes a selection of MIDI grooves to fuel songwriting (verses, choruses, breaks, variations) as well as mix presets covering a wide range of styles. You can prototype a sonic direction quickly, then refine: adjust the room, boost the kick, open the snare, or conversely tighten the kit to make space for guitars.

Focus on the 3 included SDXs

The Metal Foundry: recorded at Atlantis Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, and produced with Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake, accompanied by an engineering team including Mattias Eklund, Fredrik Thordendal, and Daniel Bergstrand. A particularly broad palette in dimensions, depths, and materials, designed for precise and powerful drums.

The Progressive Foundry: recorded at Sing Sing Recording Studios in Melbourne, Australia by Forrester Savell with Steve Judd (Karnivool). Drums sourced across Australia, captured with high-end microphones and rare external gear, balancing vintage character and modernity.

The Rock Foundry: recorded by Bob Rock at The Warehouse (Vancouver, British Columbia). In addition to 7 individual kits, this expansion provides a wide selection of additional snares, kicks, and cymbals, all captured in a large reverberant room, ideal for wide and lively rock drums.
