The Universal Audio studio spirit in a desktop interface
The Volt 2 Recording Studio brings the Universal Audio sonic approach to a two-input, two-output format designed for home studios. Its identity is defined in particular by the “Vintage” mode, an analog emulation of the character of the UA 610 tube preamp. This coloration is applied directly to the input, with no plug-in required for recording.
For musicians, vocals and two-source projects
Do you sing while accompanying yourself on guitar? Do you want to record a stereo instrument or capture a performance with two microphones? The two versatile inputs support these configurations without changing interfaces. The high-impedance instrument mode accommodates an electric guitar or bass directly, while the line inputs are suitable for keyboards and sound modules.
Compatibility with Mac, Windows, iPad and iPhone also makes it possible to create a portable recording setup. USB power simplifies installation with a computer; with a mobile device, a suitable cable or adapter and an additional power supply may be required, depending on the available connection.
Accessible controls to keep you focused on the recording
Vintage color to dial in while recording
Each input has its own gain control and Vintage activation. This allows you to keep one source free of additional coloration while giving the other more character. The level indicators make adjustment easier: set the gain during the loudest passages to avoid clipping, rather than trying to correct a distorted recording afterwards.
Direct monitoring, in mono or stereo
Direct monitoring lets you hear the inputs without passing through the audio software’s buffers. It offers centered mono monitoring or left-right distribution in stereo. Headphone and speaker volumes can be adjusted separately while playing the same program: convenient for switching between monitoring options during a session.
MIDI connectivity and production tools
The MIDI DIN connections let you connect a keyboard, synthesizer or drum machine to your production setup. On the software side, Volt 2 comes with LUNA as well as a selection of effects, instruments and partner tools. They can be obtained by registering the interface in UA Connect; bundle content and software requirements may change.
