The Volt that opens up four-preamp recording
Introduced in September 2022, the Volt 476P expands the possibilities of the Volt family for musicians who work together. The first interface in the range to bring together four analog preamps, it offers Vintage and 76 Compressor modes on each of its inputs. Its advantage: maintaining a straightforward workflow while accommodating more sources during the same session.
For group sessions and multi-mic recording
Want to record a duo, combine several microphones on an acoustic instrument, or capture a small ensemble? Its four inputs let you handle these setups without multiplying interfaces. Compared with the Volt 476, whose inputs 3 and 4 are line-level, the 476P provides four true mic, line, or instrument inputs: a practical advantage when your project requires more than two microphones.
An accessible analog chain from the moment you record
Vintage: choosing a color rather than having it imposed on you
The Vintage Mic Preamp mode adds analog coloration inspired by the UA 610. It is not a built-in tube preamp, but an analog emulation circuit designed to recapture part of its character. Available on mic, line, and instrument sources, it lets you pursue a fuller vocal sound or a more assertive guitar tone, then return to a more neutral reproduction by disabling it.
76 Compressor: controlling dynamics without complex settings
The 76 compressor offers three modes: VOC, GTR and FAST. This lets you smooth out a vocal, preserve a guitar’s attack, or achieve a more responsive compression effect. Because the processing is analog and takes place in the input chain, its effect becomes part of the recorded sound. An interesting approach for committing to a sound from the moment you record, while taking the time to adjust the gain and listen to the result.
Direct monitoring, with two headphone volume controls
Direct monitoring lets you hear the inputs without passing through software processing and its latency. The Monitor Source buttons select the pairs of inputs and computer returns to monitor. Each of the two headphone outputs has its own volume control, but they share the same monitoring signal as the Monitor outputs: they therefore do not provide two independent headphone mixes. Mono mode centers the inputs in the direct monitoring signal.
Software to extend your work in your DAW
Registering a new interface gives you access to LUNA, native UAD plug-ins, and software from partner companies. These tools run on the computer: the Volt 476P does not have a DSP for running UAD DSP plug-ins. Activation and installation are handled through UA Connect, which also centralizes access to the Windows driver.
