Summary of This Method
Organized into 30 lessons, this piano method guides you through a repertoire of well-known tunes, carefully selected to explore several worlds: blues, baroque, classical, Latin, and romantic. The goal is to help you progress musically by developing reading, listening, and coordination of both hands.
You learn to accompany with the left hand using chords and typical accompaniment patterns of each style. This approach helps build a stronger and more expressive playing: the left hand is not limited to "holding" the piece, it becomes a true harmonic and rhythmic support.
The method also offers an introduction to the basics of jazz : discovery of chord progressions, exploration of some blues scales, and assimilation of characteristic formulas (licks) to start sounding more "jazz" and understand the essential reflexes of the style.
The included CD contains all 30 pieces in piano/orchestra version, ideal for familiarizing yourself with the expected atmosphere and phrasing. For 11 of them, a play-back version is provided: an excellent tool to work on regularity, ease, and playing in a real situation, as if accompanied.
