The Vandoren Jumbo Java is built around a small chamber and a very high baffle : this architecture promotes considerable sound projection and immediate response, with a clear attack and a "snappy" sound. Its large bore contributes to a brighter and denser timbre, sometimes comparable to certain metal mouthpieces, while retaining the playing feel typical of ebonite. As always with a mouthpiece, the final balance will strongly depend on your reed (strength and cut) and your ligature : it is this mouthpiece/reed/ligature combination that will allow you to refine your sonic signature.
