From clarinet to saxophone: the transposed V12 DNA

The success of V12 reeds in the clarinet world inspired an adaptation designed for the demands of the saxophone. The goal is clear: to achieve the same sensation of control and sound density while meeting the air column and typical attack of the saxophone. This reed thus incorporates the strengths that have made the V12 family renowned, with a selected cane and geometry engineered to offer reliable response and an immediately "settled" sound.

For which saxophonist, and in which styles?

These reeds are aimed at intermediate to advanced saxophonists seeking a stable reed capable of holding the tuning and remaining consistent as dynamics increase. They are also suitable for progressing players who want to gain regularity in response, provided they choose a strength adapted to their mouthpiece and embouchure.

Regarding styles, their warm and mellow character makes them comfortable in jazz (round sound, dynamic control), classical music (homogeneity, intonation), pop, and orchestra/band, where consistency and endurance over time are particularly appreciated.

Sound and design

The uniqueness of this reed lies in a specific cane dimension and a cut that makes it thicker at both ends than a so-called "traditional" reed. Practically, this alters how the reed vibrates: the blade (the vibrating area that moves the air) works over a longer length, which promotes a rich and deep sound with a solid foundation.

The thicker tip (the reed's point) adds body to the attack: the articulation becomes more substantial, with a sensation of control from the start of the note, without losing the enveloped quality of the timbre. This thickness also contributes to the lifespan by limiting premature wear at the tip, the most stressed area.

In use, one finds a very precise response : the reed reacts clearly, helps stabilize register transitions, and maintains appreciable homogeneity between low, middle, and high registers. For the player, this translates into better consistency in projection (the sound's ability to "carry") and a comfortable sensation when working dynamics, from pianissimo to forte.

Recommended compatible accessories

To preserve the consistency of your reeds daily, a reed protection case for saxophone (in the size corresponding to your instrument) is a relevant choice: it limits shocks, encourages flat storage, and helps keep a reed in good condition between sessions.

Important: product subject to a specific right of withdrawal. For hygiene reasons, if the product has been opened, it cannot be returned nor eligible for refund or exchange.
