A Reed Born for the Demands of Jazz Musicians
Launched in 1993, the V16 was developed to meet the expectations of jazz saxophonists, featuring a profile that promotes "punch" and increased presence in the mix. Vandoren relies on its historic expertise with cane, with controlled production from cane selection to packaging.
For Whom and Which Styles
This baryton saxophone reed is aimed at musicians seeking a responsive and articulated playing experience, particularly comfortable in jazz, funk, soul, contemporary music, and big band. At strength 3, it often suits players who already have good embouchure stability.
Sound and Design
Thanks to its longer table and thicker tip compared to traditional reeds, the V16 emphasizes a bright timbre, impactful attacks, and a "dense" reed sensation. Well paired with a jazz mouthpiece, it can offer a rich and deep sound while remaining precise in articulation.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To preserve response and longevity, a ventilated reed case and a swab suitable for the baryton saxophone are useful complements (without depending on a specific mouthpiece model).
