Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

The M70 is part of Vic Firth's Corpsmaster Keyboard series, a line developed to meet the requirements of marching and drum corps ensembles: projection, consistency from pair to pair, and control in often more "physical" playing environments. Within this family, the M70 is positioned as a medium model dedicated to the marimba, designed to cover a wide range of situations, from articulated passages to more lyrical sections.

Who This Mallet Is For

The Vic Firth M70 is aimed at intermediate to advanced marimbists seeking a reliable mallet for stand work, intensive rehearsal, and stage performance. Its medium size and definition make it a relevant choice for marching repertoire, as well as ensemble contexts where precision is desired without excessively hardening the timbre.
