Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The M277 are part of the new mallets designed by Iain Moyer, intended to renew the approach to vibraphone and marimba. Their positioning is notably distinguished by the abandonment of rattan handles in favor of a birch shaft, focused on rigidity and precision.
Target Audience for This Instrument
These mallets are aimed at intermediate to advanced vibraphonists and marimbists seeking speed, a clear attack, and excellent clarity in exposed passages. They are particularly suited for orchestral contexts, ensembles, and compositions requiring a marked presence in the upper register.
