The 2nd Generation Valvenergy: Nutube at the Service of Effects
After an initial series focused on amp emulation, VOX refocuses the 2nd generation Valvenergy on effects pedals that fully exploit the Nutube. The Smooth Impact (VE-SI) is the "compressor" variant, alongside new models like the Power Burst and Fuel Injector. The carefully crafted buffer provides a smooth playing feel and a more natural response in the signal chain.
Who Is It For, and What For?
Ideal for pop, funk, country, blues, and rock guitarists who want to even out their level without losing the instrument's character. In the studio, it stabilizes attack and facilitates consistent takes. On stage, it highlights punchy rhythm parts and stretches lead lines with singing sustain. Easy to adjust, it suits both beginners and experienced musicians.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Vox Smooth Impact suitable for funk and country?
Its three compression modes allow the smoothing of the signal to be adapted to the snappy rhythms of funk or the sharp attacks of country. The Nutube adds warm harmonics while preserving attack clarity.
What connections are available on this pedal?
Both the input and the output use a 6.35 mm mono jack.
Can the Smooth Impact remain activated permanently on a pedalboard?
The internal buffer is designed to maintain consistent clarity with 'always-on' use. It can also be placed alongside Valvenergy overdrives or boosters. The metal chassis measures 72 x 120 x 55 mm, making integration into a pedalboard easy.
What controls are available on the Vox compressor?
Three controls are provided: compression, output, and tube Gain. These allow adjustment of the compression amount, output level, and Nutube-related gain.
Is a power adapter included with the pedal?
No power adapter is supplied; the indicated power source is a 9 V battery.
