In practice, it becomes an excellent companion for working on rhythmic placement, playing dynamics, sound changes, or the precision of stereo parts (notably with chorus, delay, and reverb).

The heart of the Canvas Rehearsal is its ability to manage your rehearsal like a mini "hub": you plug in your instrument, retrieve your signal in mono or stereo via 6.35mm Jack connections, and enjoy a 3.5mm mini-jack headphone output to play anytime. To work on songs, you can play your music via Bluetooth or use the 3.5mm stereo auxiliary input.

The mix is particularly convenient thanks to independent volume controls: you separately adjust the levels of your instrument, metronome, and auxiliary input to achieve a natural balance (for example: metronome present but not aggressive, backing track slightly in the background, guitar upfront). The built-in metronome covers a wide range from 40 to 250 BPM, and tempo is adjustable either with the encoder knob or via a Tap Tempo function by tapping with your finger.

For more musical rhythmic work, the Canvas Rehearsal allows fine adjustment of division and beat accentuation, which helps both with working on binary grooves and solidifying subtler timing. All this information remains easily readable at a glance thanks to the OLED screen displaying BPM, metronome status, division, and accent. Finally, integration into a modern rig is facilitated by control via standard MIDI messages, with full MIDI data transmission (convenient for chaining multiple devices).
