A Modern Overdrive Inspired by the "Centaur" Spirit, Walrus Version

The Voyager MKII follows the lineage of "transparent" Klon-type overdrives, designed to respect the character of your guitar and amp while adding depth, sustain, and a pronounced presence in the mix. This MKII version retains the DNA of the original Voyager and evolves it with a more modern and flexible approach, notably through real work on the mids, a key area to stand out in the band mix without harshening the highs.

Who Is the Voyager MKII For?

The Walrus Audio Voyager MKII suits both intermediate guitarists and demanding musicians who want an overdrive pedal capable of covering multiple roles on a pedalboard. In blues, rock, pop, indie, or fusion, it can serve as an always-on boost to "wake up" a clean tone, a main drive for dense crunch, or a second saturation stage to push another pedal. In the studio, its parametric mid EQ helps quickly find the right place in the arrangement; live, the EQ mid footswitch becomes a real tool to bring out a solo without adjusting overall volume.

Controls, Modes, and Ergonomics: A True Midrange Command Center

The Voyager MKII goes beyond the classic three-knob layout by integrating a footswitchable parametric mid EQ with a boost or cut range of +/-12 dB. The Freq knob sets the center frequency of the Mid control over a wide range from 250 Hz to 2 kHz: perfect for thickening a thin guitar, taming an intrusive low-mid, or highlighting attack for leads that "speak".

The 5-position rotary selector acts as a clipping character selector. You can find the most compressed germanium 1N34A grain (the Voyager's signature sound), explore a germanium variant with enhanced bass, or switch to more open silicon options. Symmetrical silicon modes emphasize dynamics and a fast response feel; asymmetrical silicon modes offer a stronger, less compressed drive with, depending on the position, extra low-end foundation. Combining this selector with Mid and Freq makes the pedal particularly effective for optimizing a specific setup (single coils, humbuckers, bright amp, dark amp) without losing your playing identity.

Sound

At low gain, the Voyager MKII provides a clear boost with a sense of harmonic extension: notes gain clarity, attacks stand out, and chords remain distinct. Increasing the gain, the pedal develops a thicker, singing overdrive with present mids that enhance projection without turning your tone into "fuzz" saturation. Its strength lies in offering a musical playing response: it tracks guitar volume well, accepts pick dynamics, and can remain defined even on complex chords, especially if you sculpt the midrange area via Freq and Mid.
