A Modern Looper Designed for Polyrhythmic Constructions
The Xero PolyLooper belongs to the new generation of performance-oriented loopers: instead of being limited to a single track, it offers two loop channels with separate settings, and especially a Poly mode designed to create rhythmic overlays (examples: 3:4, 5:7) while maintaining a common time base. The result: you move from a simple practice loop to genuine song structures, playable and adjustable on stage.
For Whom, Which Styles, and In What Contexts?
The Xero is aimed equally at guitarists who want to work on their riffs and live musicians who build layers in real-time. It suits ambient aesthetics very well (infinite textures, reverse, slowed speeds), rock and indie (two "track" arrangements), as well as math rock and electro-live worlds thanks to polyrhythms and MIDI sync. In the studio, it becomes a fast writing tool; on stage, its LEDs and foot gestures prevent having to "dive" into menus.
Controls, Modes, and Integration: Everything at Your Feet
Each channel has its own volume and stereo pan, handy for opening up a mix or creating a left/right dialogue on a stereo pedalboard. The Speed FX provide access to 0.5x / 1x / 2x speeds, and the direction (forward / reverse) is adjustable independently per channel: ideal for "remixing" a loop on the fly.
Control relies on two footswitches and simple gestures: record/playback, stop, undo, channel toggle, full stop, or full erase. For demanding live setups, the pedal accepts a dual external footswitch to extend access to secondary functions and keep both channels under control. Finally, integration is complete thanks to MIDI (clock and control) and USB-C for firmware updates.
Sound
As a looper, the Xero aims for faithful and clean reproduction: it does not seek to color your sound like an overdrive but to preserve the attack, dynamics, and grain of your guitar (or your chain) during layering. The stereo pan per channel is a real plus to avoid the typical "block in the center" effect of loopers and to build clear layers. With its speed and reverse options, it also excels in atmospheres: stretched pads, granular tape-style loops, or contrasts between a stable rhythmic channel and a transformed second channel.

Questions frequently asked
Does the Walrus Audio Xero Polylooper Cream allow creating polyrhythms?
The Poly mode enables building two loops on a common time base with polyrhythmic ratios such as 3:4 or 5:7. Three modes are available: Sync, Unsynced, and Poly.
What recording length is available on each channel?
Each channel supports up to 3 minutes of recording.
Can two separate loops be used in stereo?
Both channels have independent volume and stereo pan controls. The connectivity includes two 6.35 mm jack inputs L/R and two 6.35 mm jack outputs L/R in dual mono.
What speed and reverse effects are available?
Each channel can be played back at 0.5x, 1x, or 2x via Speed FX. Reverse playback can also be independently activated on each loop.
Can the pedal be synchronized and controlled via MIDI?
A MIDI input on a 3.5 mm TRS Type A jack receives clock and MIDI commands, while a MIDI THRU output is present. MIDI CC mapping covers looping, playback, and Speed FX. A USB-C port is provided for updates.
