A "Classic" Revisited in the Warm Audio Range
The WA-87JR follows Warm Audio's philosophy: offering studio microphones with a musical character, designed to cover real-world uses in home studios as well as vocal booths, while maintaining serious design choices. In this "JR" version, the brand captures the spirit of the iconic 87 family and relies on a capsule identical to the WA-87R2 to deliver a modern, versatile signature that is immediately mix-ready. The "pragmatic premium" approach of the range is also evident: included shock mount, rigid stand mount, and leather storage pouch for quick setup and effective protection between sessions.
Who It's For and When the WA-87JR Makes a Difference
Designed as a true studio Swiss Army knife, the WA-87JR is suitable for both singing vocals (pop, rap, rock, softer voices) and spoken voices (podcasting, streaming, voice-over, content creation). Its low noise floor helps keep recordings clean even during quiet passages, and its extended response captures sources rich in harmonics with a clear sense of definition.
On instruments, it excels with acoustic guitar, piano, strings, percussion, and distant amp miking. Thanks to the three polar patterns, you can adapt the recording to the room: cardioid to isolate, omnidirectional for a more natural sound, figure-8 to exploit effective side rejection (useful for duets, mid-side techniques, or controlling room reflections).

Questions frequently asked
Is the WA-87 JR suitable for recording vocals and podcasts?
Its large-diaphragm capsule and low self-noise of 9 dB(A) are suitable for sung vocals, voiceover, and podcast formats. The frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
What polar patterns are available?
The three available polar patterns are cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8. The cardioid mode provides focused vocal pickup. The figure-8 can be used for face-to-face duets or mid-side techniques.
Can it handle very loud sources such as brass or percussion?
The -10 dB pad increases the maximum SPL to 157 dB SPL at 1 kHz, compared to 147 dB SPL without attenuation.
Does the microphone have a low-cut filter?
With its 70 Hz low-cut filter, this model helps reduce stand vibrations, handling noise, and some proximity effect. The switch allows adjustment at the recording stage.
What accessories are included with the microphone?
The package includes a shock mount, a rigid holder, and a leather storage pouch. Connection is via XLR.
