RockBass 2024: The Revival of a Cult Range at Warwick
The Warwick RockBass range is revamped for 2024, retaining the DNA of classic Warwick basses in a more accessible formula. The goal is clear: to preserve the attributes that built the reputation of the German brand (ergonomics, sonic identity, dedicated hardware) while offering an instrument ready for stage, studio, and rehearsal.
Who Is This 4-String Electric Bass For?
This RockBass is well suited for intermediate bassists seeking a reliable and versatile bass, and it also makes an excellent choice for demanding beginners who want to start with active electronics and reference pickups. Its modern character shines particularly in rock, metal, funk, pop, and contemporary music, with a good dynamic range to cut through a mix.
Sound
The pair of EMG DC35 soapbar pickups delivers a precise, powerful, and balanced output across the entire neck, with firm lows and well-defined highs. The active RockBass electronics (Bass and Treble EQ) allow quick adjustment of your tone: deep warmth to support the band, or sharper attack for lines that need to stand out. The ash body contributes to a clear and articulate response, while the combination of maple neck and wenge fingerboard enhances definition and a fast feel under the fingers. The 35" scale promotes excellent string tension, especially appreciated for lower tunings and aggressive playing.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain exactly the same feel and tension, you can plan a replacement set of Warwick Red Strings in gauge .065-.135, identical to the original set. The bass comes with a Student Line RockBag RB 20515 B/PLUS gig bag, ideal for transport and regular travel.
