Essential Information About the Warwick Robert Trujillo Signature 5-String Bass

  • Robert Trujillo Signature: a bass designed for powerful, precise, and modern playing, with dedicated aesthetics and markers.

  • Active EMG J pickups: sharp attack, high definition, and tight lows, ideal for cutting through a dense mix.

  • Active MEC electronics: wide range of settings with push/pull volume, balance, and full EQ.

  • Warwick 2-piece bridge: fine adjustments, excellent tuning stability, and solid sustain, even on the low B string.

A Signature Model Inspired by the Pro-Series and Custom Shop Standards

Based on the spirit of the brand's high-end instruments, this 5-string electric bass incorporates key elements that have made Warwick renowned: robust hardware, performance-oriented ergonomics, and a very current "stage/studio" approach. Featuring "Robert Trujillo" markers and a design focused on efficiency, it stands as a signature crafted for demanding bassists seeking a reliable, responsive, and expressive instrument.

For Which Bassists and Styles?

This Warwick Robert Trujillo Signature is especially aimed at intermediate to expert bassists looking for a 5-string comfortable with modern tunings and playing with both pick and fingers. It excels in metal, hard rock, modern rock, but remains relevant in punchy funk and pop/rock whenever a precise, articulate bass capable of cutting through the mix without effort is desired.

The Sound

The alder body provides a natural balance: present lows, clear mids, and a consistent response, perfect for a versatile 5-string. The maple neck, reinforced with ekanga, promotes stability and projection, while the tiger ebony fingerboard enhances attack and definition, highly appreciated for fast passages and tight palm-mutes.

On the electronics side, the active EMG J pickups in Jazz Bass format deliver immediate clarity and a modern tone, with a firm and controlled low end. The active MEC electronics (push/pull volume, balance, stacked treble/bass, and mids) allow switching from a snappy, incisive sound to a rounder, more massive tone, while maintaining excellent precision on the low B string.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original string tension and feel, prioritize a set of Warwick Red Strings .045-.135 identical to the factory-installed ones. A soft microfiber cloth is perfect for routine care of the satin finish and hardware.
