Who Is It For, and In Which Styles?
This bass is well suited for serious beginners as well as intermediate bassists seeking a versatile instrument for rehearsals, lessons, home studio, and gigs. The P/J configuration and active EQ are suitable for rock and pop as well as funk, metal (clean attack), or rounder styles like soul, simply by adjusting the pickup balance and EQ.
The Sound
The passive MEC P + passive MEC J pickup duo offers a very musical foundation: the Precision-style pickup delivers dense lows and a midrange that "holds" the mix, while the Jazz-style pickup adds snap, precision, and articulation for fingerstyle, pick, or slap playing. The RockBass active electronics (Bass/Treble) allow you to broaden the spectrum: more roundness without muddiness, or more brightness to stand out in a band. The bolt-on neck enhances attack and clarity, and the tiger ebony fingerboard promotes quick response and clear definition, especially appreciated on a 4-string with a long scale length.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain the original feel and tension, opt for a 4-string bass string set .045-.105 designed for 34" / 863.6 mm scale length. A 6.35 mm jack cable (instrument) and a universal bass stand complete the daily setup perfectly. The bass already comes with a RockBag gig bag, convenient for transport.
