What MR Hum Is For
Designed for audio restoration, MR Hum cleans recordings affected by 50/60 Hz mains hum, motor buzz, or interference in just a few steps. Ideal for post-production, podcasts, interviews, dubbing, sound design, and archiving, it isolates the problematic component without degrading timbre or dynamics, ensuring clear dialogue and clean ambiances.
Main Features
Hum removal with notch filters
Select the fundamental frequency (50/60 Hz or any value from 20 to 200 Hz) and the number of harmonics to attenuate, up to 10. The notch widths are adjustable to precisely target the noise while preserving music and voice. Presets speed up the setup process.
Dedicated broadband buzz algorithm
Periodic buzzing, rich in harmonics across the spectrum, is processed by a specific processor far more efficient than hundreds of notch filters. It adapts to sources originating from mains or mechanical noise, with free selection of the fundamental frequency from 20 to 200 Hz.
Analysis, monitoring, and brickwall filters
The high-resolution spectrum analyzer clearly visualizes interference peaks before and after processing. The "Monitor" function allows listening only to the removed signal for precise adjustment. Brickwall high-pass/low-pass filters eliminate stubborn very low frequencies (kick drum, rumble) or very high frequencies (hiss).

Questions frequently asked
Is MR Hum 6 compatible with macOS and Windows?
Compatibility covers macOS 10.13 High Sierra through macOS 14 Sonoma, as well as Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11. Apple Silicon processors are natively supported in AU, VST3, and AAX formats.
How can one remove a 50 Hz or 60 Hz mains hum from a recording?
Notch filters allow selection of a fundamental frequency between 20 and 200 Hz, including 50 or 60 Hz. Up to 10 harmonics can be attenuated, with an adjustable notch width.
Does the plugin process motor buzzes rich in harmonics?
A dedicated algorithm processes wideband periodic buzzes, particularly mechanical or mains in origin. The fundamental frequency of this buzz can be freely set from 20 to 200 Hz.
Is it possible to listen only to the removed noise during adjustment?
The Monitor function allows listening only to the removed component to fine-tune the processing. A high-resolution spectrum analyzer displays interference peaks before and after correction. Brickwall high-pass and low-pass filters can eliminate residual rumble or hiss.
Does MR Hum 6 operate in stereo and up to what sample rate?
Processing is available in mono or stereo, supporting sample rates up to 192 kHz.
