Waves CLA Vocals is designed to process vocals quickly with a coherent effects chain, without stacking multiple plug-ins. Ideal for lead vocals, doubles, and backing vocals, it allows you to go from a "raw" sound to a "radio-ready" finish while staying musical and easy to control.

Main Features

A complete vocal chain controlled by faders

CLA Vocals combines six processors optimized for vocals: bass, treble, compression, reverb, delay, and pitch. The approach is intentionally straightforward: each fader controls the intensity of the effect to shape the tone and place the vocal in the space without getting lost in numerous parameters.

"Musical" EQ: Bass and Treble

The Bass fader adds depth, helps correct proximity effect excess, or balances a thin vocal. The Treble fader brings brightness, articulation, and "sheen," or conversely, softens harshness in the high frequencies for a rounder, smoother vocal.

CLA signature compression: PUSH, SPANK, WALL

Compression is one of CLA Vocals' strengths, with three characters suited to common needs. PUSH enhances punch and density, SPANK emphasizes impact for a more incisive vocal, and WALL applies heavy compression for a "front and center," stable, and massive vocal. A quick way to make a lead vocal stand out in a busy mix.

Ambience and depth: reverb + synced delay

To avoid a too-dry vocal, you have three reverbs: TIGHT (short and controlled), LARGE (wide), and CHAMBER (more characterful room). The delay offers rhythmic values 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 that sync to your DAW's tempo, handy for creating depth and perfectly timed echoes.

Pitch / modulation: width and "double" effect

The Pitch section adds chorus-type modulation to thicken and widen the vocal. Depending on the chosen variation, you can go from a subtle effect to a wider stereo image, up to a sound close to tight doubles, useful for modernizing a chorus or adding breadth to backing vocals.

Presets and simplified editing

With over 30 presets, CLA Vocals speeds up setting a vocal color while allowing you to create your own variations. The simplified editing options are designed to keep you in the creative flow, and the input/output meters help maintain consistent levels, avoiding over-compression or unintended clipping.
