Advanced stacking and mapping: up to 8 layers

CR8 allows stacking up to 8 sample layers to thicken a kick, create an evolving pad, build an expressive lead, or layer multiple takes for a unique timbre. Each layer has dedicated controls, including velocity-based playing, pitch, and other parameters, and you can organize your sounds on the keyboard according to your logic (stack, split, zones).

Musical time-stretching: 5 algorithms

Adapt your samples to tempo and style with 5 stretch modes: Voice, Beats, Melodic, Harmonic, and Classic. You can control pitch and time independently to preserve the character of a voice, the punch of a beat, or the stability of a harmonic part. The Classic mode offers a more "old-school" approach where pitch and duration evolve together, ideal for resampling effects.

Drag-and-drop modulation: LFO, sequencer, and ADSR envelopes

The modulation engine is designed for immediacy: drop a modulator on almost any control to animate a filter, pitch, playback position, or loop parameter. You have 25 LFO waveforms and 25 step sequences, with the ability to draw and save your own shapes. LFOs can be triggered, retriggered, looped, or left free-running, with smoothing and warp options to speed up or slow down movement while preserving duration. Add to that 4 ADSR envelopes whose attack, decay, and release curves are adjustable for more organic playing.

Layer editing and mixing: clear and fast control

The mixer page provides a direct view of your stacked layers, with independent controls for Tune, Width, Pan, and Volume. Convenient for balancing a stack, grouping controls, linking parameters, and keeping a clean workflow even on complex patches.

Playback control and "instrument" expressivity

CR8 is not limited to loading an audio file: play with reverse, freeze, loop length adjustment, speed, and direction, all while staying locked to the session thanks to host sync and sync lock on trigger options. To thicken a timbre, the unison mode duplicates voices, and transient management helps preserve impact during processing. On the performance side, you can assign aftertouch, velocity, mod-wheel, and pitch-wheel to numerous parameters to make your samples truly expressive.

Library and inspiration: 800 presets, 2500 samples, and COSMOS

For fast production, CR8 includes 800 presets covering leads, pads, basses and subs, modulated effects, and textures. It integrates with COSMOS Sample Finder, a sample browser with AI-assisted musical detection, to quickly find a sound and load it instantly into CR8. COSMOS comes with over 2500 royalty-free samples and can also index samples on your computer.
