What Waves H-EQ Hybrid Equalizer Is For
Waves H-EQ Hybrid Equalizer is designed for mixing and mastering equalization when you want to both shape the timbre like on a console and correct resonances with great finesse. It adapts equally well to vocals (cleaning up low-mids, controlled brightness), guitars (removing harsh frequencies), drums (attack, presence, weight), as well as buses and the master (overall balance and stereo management). Its "hybrid" concept allows combining curves with analog character and more neutral behaviors to match the production style, from warm vintage to very precise modern electro.
Main Features
A different console character for each band
The strength of the H-EQ is letting you choose one of 7 EQ characters on each of its bands. You can thus use a curve with a more "musical" rendering in the midrange while keeping a more surgical response on a correction zone. The profiles are inspired by UK and US consoles, with several vintage signatures, modern variants, and two more digital options for clean and precise control.
7-band architecture designed for mixing
The EQ offers 5 parametric bands, including 2 switchable to shelving for easy work on the extremes (air in the highs, foundation in the lows). Two additional bands are dedicated to high-pass and low-pass filters, with slope options, to eliminate unnecessary sub-bass or soften an overly bright top without altering the core of the sound.
Analog color and controlled harmonic distortion
To recreate the feel of a console equalizer, H-EQ integrates 5 analog colors with variable control over hiss and background noise, as well as a THD (total harmonic distortion) adjustment. Increasing the THD adds typical sparkle and density, which can also create a sense of

Questions frequently asked
Is Waves H-EQ Hybrid Equalizer compatible with macOS Sonoma?
Compatibility is announced from macOS Catalina 10.15 up to Sonoma 14, as well as with Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11.
How many EQ bands does it offer?
Each of the 5 parametric bands can take one of the 7 available EQ characters. Two bands are switchable to shelving, and there is also a high-pass and a low-pass filter with selectable slopes.
How to identify a resonance related to a note?
The virtual keyboard allows directly assigning a note to an EQ band. The corresponding frequency automatically adjusts to target a resonance or harmonic.
Is the THD saturation adjustable on this equalizer?
The 5 analog colors include variable management of hiss and background noise. A THD setting allows adding brightness and density. This action can also create an impression of wider stereo on some content.
Is there a lite version for large sessions?
To reduce CPU usage, a Lite version is planned.
