What is Waves Maserati DRM for?

Waves Maserati DRM is a drum enhancement plugin designed to give drums more presence, punch, and clarity in modern productions where guitars, keyboards, synths, and vocals already occupy a lot of space. It can be used on both live recordings (multi-mic) and programmed drums from multi-output modules, to achieve a more "forward" kit that can cut through the mix without stacking multiple processors.

7 specialized modes for each kit element

Each mode is optimized for a specific source: kick, snare top, snare bottom, hi-hats, toms, overheads, and room. This allows quick character adjustments without starting from scratch and maintains overall coherence across a full set, including in multi-output contexts.

THUMP, SNAP, TREBLE: impact, attack, definition

THUMP adds depth and low-end, particularly effective on kick, snare, and toms to enhance the sense of weight. SNAP emphasizes attack and increases compression, a notable advantage on ambient and overhead mics when more energy and "glue" are desired. TREBLE provides definition and improves articulation for a more readable drum sound, useful to clarify attacks and presence in dense arrangements.

More energy when the mix is busy

The Sensitivity control allows pushing the processing further, up to a maximum, to accentuate the effect and bring out more transients. You can thus move from subtle enhancement to a more aggressive sound, depending on the style (pop, rock, hip-hop, electro) and the role the drums need to play.

Insert or send effect

Maserati DRM offers separate modes for use as an insert or as a send effect. As an insert, it integrates into a classic processing chain per element. As a send, it becomes a creative tool to add energy in parallel, while keeping the original signal intact and mix-controllable.
