What Waves Pianos & Keys Is For
Waves Pianos & Keys is a virtual instrument designed to incorporate essential keyboard sounds into your productions and performances: soul and R&B accompaniments, funk riffs, 80s pop pads, expressive jazz parts, and rock pianos with strong character. Whether composing in a DAW or playing live, it offers a coherent palette of acoustic and electric pianos, with playability designed to respond to your touch dynamics and musical intent.
Main Features
A collection of legendary keyboards, mix-ready
The pack brings together several carefully captured instruments covering the core "classic" keyboard textures: a modern, powerful grand acoustic piano, iconic electric pianos, an 80s-style electric grand, and a clavinet tailored for funk. Each instrument has been meticulously multisampled to reproduce the nuances, attack, sustain, and timbral variations that define each keyboard's personality.
Grand Rhapsody Piano: a large-format Fazioli captured in studio
The Grand Rhapsody Piano is sampled from a Fazioli F228 recorded in a large London studio. The goal: to achieve a piano that is detailed, expansive, and "present," capable of carrying a modern production while retaining natural musicality. Multiple mic takes (stereo pairs) and different microphone types are available to tailor the tone: rounder, brighter, closer, or wider depending on the track.
Electric pianos: vintage character and expressiveness
The electric pianos (Electric 88, Electric 200, Electric Grand 80) cover very different signatures: the softness and smoothness of a classic grand, the more "reed-like" and majestic bite typical of the 70s, and the refined brightness of a hybrid electric grand emblematic of pop/R&B productions. To save production time, the electric pianos include a suite of "classic" effects allowing quick access to ready-to-record sounds: depth, movement, and grain, without multiplying external plugins.
Clavinet: the engine of funk
The included Clavinet is based on a vintage D6 model and aims to reproduce the percussive feel and "guitar-like" quality that fits perfectly into a groove. Articulations and dynamic behavior have been captured to preserve the energy of playing, from sharp, snapping riffs to more emphasized patterns.
Playability, realism, and integration
To match your playing style, Waves Pianos & Keys offers adjustable velocity curves, useful both with a light master keyboard and a heavy touch. Mechanical noises (key and action noises) can be dialed in to shift from a "clean studio" sound to a more organic and lively feel. The instrument is NKS-ready for seamless integration with compatible controllers and also runs in standalone mode for easy use in rehearsals or on stage.
