What Waves SuperRack SoundGrid Is For

Waves SuperRack SoundGrid is a plugin rack software designed to add the power of Waves plugins to a live mixing environment. It naturally integrates into the workflow of FOH engineers, monitors, broadcast, and AV installations, allowing real-time processing of multiple channels while maintaining a clear and fast-to-operate organization. The goal is simple: to achieve studio-quality processing on stage, with minimal latency and a robust enough setup to handle consecutive shows consistently.

Main Features

SoundGrid Processing and Remote DSP Power

SuperRack SoundGrid runs plugin processing on an external SoundGrid DSP server to significantly increase the number of available instances, reduce latency, and facilitate setups where the host computer and inputs/outputs can be distant. This architecture is particularly suited for complex control rooms (stage, remote control room, auditorium) where stability, latency consistency, and processing density are critical.

Quick Setup and Efficient Production Editing

The software includes a configuration assistant capable of detecting devices and simplifying system startup. During operation, you can reorder plugins, copy plugins and presets between channels, link multiple racks to edit parameters simultaneously, and integrate external hardware effects into your chain. The result: an environment designed to save time during soundchecks and stay responsive during the show.

Snapshots, Selective Recall, and Custom Layers

For shows with many songs, performers, or scenes, SuperRack SoundGrid offers full snapshots and selective recall via scope filtering to recall only what is necessary. Custom Layers allow grouping essential racks into a single view, speeding up navigation and reducing the risk of errors under pressure (stage changes, quick transitions, broadcasts).

Touch Workspace and Remote Control

The software is designed for touch environments with a multitouch interface and the possibility to extend the display across multiple screens. The "touch-and-slide" feature helps adjust fine parameters on a touchscreen when controls are too small for direct manipulation. Furthermore, control can be mapped to assignable keys, a MIDI device, and a computer keyboard. Additionally, the iPad app MixMirror allows plugin control from anywhere in the venue by mirroring the mixing window.

Operational Security and Redundancy

SuperRack SoundGrid emphasizes service continuity: configuration of SoundGrid server redundancy, mirroring options, and tools for network and device monitoring with event log consultation. The recent version extends available power by allowing connection of multiple active and redundant servers to increase processing capacity while securing the infrastructure.

Offline Preparation

An offline editor mode is available via a separate license: it allows preparing sessions and snapshots without being connected to an audio system, then arriving at the gig with a ready configuration. This mode loads the application like the standard version but does not route audio.
