What Waves TrueVerb Is For

Waves TrueVerb is a reverb plugin designed to add depth and dimension to a mix by recreating atmospheres ranging from small intimate rooms to larger spaces, without losing signal clarity. Its focus on early reflections allows placing a source "in front of" or "within" the stereo field with more realism, making it an excellent choice for vocals, pop, rock, podcasting, light post-production, or any situation where a clean, natural, and easy-to-control ambiance is desired.

Main Features

TrueVerb combines a full reverb, an early reflections simulator, and tone-shaping tools in a clear workflow. Settings are divided into 4 distinct sections: early reflections, reverb tail, EQ, and damping. This organization enables very fast editing: you first define the "room" (the early reflections), then adjust the duration and texture of the reverb tail.

Early Reflections and Reverb Tail: Independent Management

You can optimize early reflections and the reverb tail separately to achieve exactly the desired placement and depth. The reflections and reverb can also have independent frequency responses, very useful for maintaining a precise attack while obtaining a smoother and wider tail.

Low-End Cleanup and Brightness Control to Avoid "Muddiness"

To keep a mix clear, TrueVerb offers a low-frequency cut before the early reflections to limit the buildup of bass and low-mids, often responsible for a muddy sound. A shelving filter also reduces the highs sent to the reverb to achieve smoother tails with less sibilance, particularly useful on vocals, acoustic guitars, or overheads.

Dual-Band Damping and Balance Consistency

The damping module provides separate controls for low and high-frequency attenuation, allowing you to tailor the reverb to the style and arrangement (denser and warmer, or more airy and modern). The Link button adjusts the proportions between early reflections and reverb proportionally, a valuable time-saver for maintaining a consistent balance while changing overall intensity.

Stack Multiple Instances Without Losing Definition

When using multiple TrueVerb instances in the same project, you can differentiate the early reflections to help each source find its place, avoiding the impression that all tracks share exactly the same room. Thanks to its low CPU load and fast editing, TrueVerb is suitable both as an insert and as a complement to another reverb, especially to enhance the realism of early reflections.
