An AT-3 Designed as the "Pro" Evolution of the AT Series
The XVIVE AT-3 continues the legacy of the AT-2, retaining its spirit while advancing further for stage, installation, and maintenance applications. The major improvement lies in its two distinct units: a male XLR unit and a female XLR unit, capable of operating independently. This approach makes testing more efficient in real-world setups, especially when connectors are distant or hard to reach.
More than a simple cable tester, the AT-3 positions itself as a complete audio tester: signal generation, level control, monitoring listening, and quick link verifications. The whole system has also been optimized for power, featuring a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a runtime designed for interventions and soundchecks.
Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses? A True Swiss Army Knife for Audio Verification
The XVIVE AT-3 is particularly suited for sound technicians, stage managers, installers, touring musicians, and service providers who need to quickly diagnose a problem without random trial and error. It helps isolate the source of a fault (cable, input, output, phantom power, too low level, faulty connector) and validate a line in a few steps, directly on site.
It is also very useful for checking powered speakers, effect pedals, cables, DI boxes, IEM systems, mixing consoles, and more broadly any audio equipment requiring a test signal and verification listening. In rehearsal, studio, or live settings, it becomes a reflex: send a known signal, listen, measure, and confirm continuity and level without wasting time.
Key Functions: Long-Distance Testing, Signal Generation, and Monitoring
Two Modules to Save Time on Long Cable Runs
Thanks to its two separate modules, the AT-3 allows testing both ends of a cable without moving everything. Practically, you can leave one unit at one end (for example at FOH) and the other at the opposite end (on stage, in patch, or in a rack). This method is particularly convenient for long cables and installations where cable routing makes handling cumbersome.
The enhanced cable testing function supports long-distance tests on XLR or DMX cables by using one unit at each end, which improves efficiency and accuracy of field verifications.
Signal Generator and Phantom Power Detection
The male XLR unit is designed to "inject" a signal into the chain. It can generate a 1 kHz tone or pink noise, then transmit this signal via XLR and 6.35 mm Jack connectors. It also includes phantom power detection, a crucial feature to quickly diagnose a non-responsive condenser microphone, a preamp issue, or an incomplete console configuration.
To adapt to sensitive inputs or already high gain stages, the AT-3 features an output level pad (Off / -10 / -20 / -40), useful to avoid clipping and reproduce realistic levels during tests.
Measurement, Listening, and Immediate Validation
The female XLR unit offers a complementary approach: it provides XLR input level measurement, as well as signal generation to the integrated speaker and the 3.5 mm mini-jack headphone output. This allows you to monitor a signal, confirm it reaches the right place, and quickly check for intermittent faults, bad contacts, or abnormal levels.
Finally, the AT-3 was designed to keep up with the pace of interventions: battery capacity has been increased (from 340 mAh to 500 mAh and 700 mAh depending on the unit) to offer extended operating time, with simple charging via USB-C.

Questions frequently asked
Can the XVive AT-3 test a long XLR cable without moving the device?
Its two XLR units, one male and one female, operate independently and can be placed at both ends of the link. XLR and DMX cables can thus be tested over long distances.
What test signals are available on the AT-3?
The male XLR unit generates a 1 kHz tone or pink noise, transmitted via XLR and 6.35 mm jack. An Off / -10 / -20 / -40 pad allows adapting the output level to sensitive inputs.
Does the AT-3 detect 48 V phantom power?
Phantom power detection is integrated into the male XLR unit, allowing to check the presence of this power on a microphone line.
Can a signal be listened to with this audio tester?
The female XLR unit features a built-in speaker and a 3.5 mm mini-jack headphone output. It also measures the level of the signal received at its XLR input. This section allows verifying signal presence and identifying abnormal levels.
What is the battery life and charging method for the XVive AT-3?
Both units use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries of 500 mAh and 700 mAh depending on the module. Charging is done via USB-C.
