CLP-825: The Clavinova CLP Spirit, Designed for Study and Daily Enjoyment
The Yamaha Clavinova CLP-825 belongs to a range renowned for bringing acoustic piano playing closer to today's uses: headphone practice, compact home footprint, and immediate access to educational tools. Within the CLP universe, it emphasizes touch, nuance precision, and the quality of the main pianos to offer a coherent furniture-style digital piano suitable for serious learning as well as enjoyable playing.
Keyboard Design
With its GrandTouch-S 88-key keyboard, the CLP-825 aims for a stable and expressive response inspired by modern actions: key depth, piano control, and consistency across all dynamics. The synthetic ebony/ivory keytops improve grip and comfort, while the escapement provides a more realistic sensation at the end of the key travel, useful for pianissimos and control work. The touch sensitivity offers four settings (hard, medium, soft, fixed) to adapt the instrument to your technique. On the pedal side, the 3 pedals (Damper with half-pedal, Sostenuto, Soft) in GrandTouch format complete a very "piano-like" experience for classical repertoire, jazz, or accompaniment.
Sound Quality
The CLP-825's sound signature is based on two references: "Yamaha CFX" for brilliance and projection, and "Bösendorfer Imperial" for a warmer, fuller character. The VRM (Virtual Resonance Modeling) and piano expression modeling enhance the sense of acoustic interaction (resonances, harmonic richness, playing variations). For silent sessions, the binaural sampling (CFX) combined with the Stereophonic Optimizer improves spatial perception through headphones. Finally, the IAC helps maintain musical balance at low volume. With 10 tones, 256-note polyphony, 2 x 20 W amplification, and 12 cm speakers with diffusers, the sound remains detailed and controlled, suitable both for delicate nuances and more energetic playing.
