L Series: 40 Years of Heritage, an Evolution Toward Sonic Maturity
To celebrate 40 years of the L series, Yamaha has evolved its range with the 16 series, presented as the first "all solid wood" level of this new generation. The A.R.E. (Accelerated Resonance Enhancement) treatment applied to the top aims to bring the guitar closer to a more mature response from the very first hours of playing, while the new bracing provides a more balanced sound and increased power reserve, in the spirit of traditional acoustics.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Thanks to its dreadnought format and premium tonewoods, the LL16 ARE is suitable for both intermediate guitarists and advanced musicians seeking an expressive acoustic for stage and studio. It excels in pop, folk, acoustic rock, and pick-style accompaniment, while remaining very convincing in fingerpicking and dynamic playing. The built-in pickup system is an asset for concerts, rehearsals, and direct recording.
Sound
The solid Engelmann spruce top delivers precise attack and great sensitivity to touch, with a rich midrange register, particularly musical in fingerstyle. The A.R.E. treatment promotes a more open response and a "played-in guitar" feel, useful for gaining warmth and harmonic complexity. The solid rosewood back and sides enhance breadth: deep lows, bright highs, and generous sustain. Finally, the new bracing contributes to a powerful balance and strong projection, typical of a dreadnought, with good note clarity chord by chord.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the best out of this acoustic, you can safely pair it with universal accessories: tuner, metronome, pick set, acoustic guitar capo, and guitar stand. The hard bag is included for daily transport and protection.
