RUio16-D: A "Bridge" Approach Between the Dante World and Computer Audio

The RUio16-D positions itself as an audio interface with a very specific role: to enable simple and robust communication between three domains that increasingly coexist at the same event or in a modern control room. On one side, the Dante network (convenient for transporting many channels over IP with a centralized audio infrastructure); on the other, analog inputs and outputs to integrate with a console, stagebox, PA system, or measurement chain; and finally, USB to work with a computer (playback, recording, processing, measurement, virtual soundcheck).

This "bridge" philosophy makes it a particularly relevant tool whenever you need to send a computer-processed signal to a mixer via Dante, or conversely retrieve Dante channels for use in computer audio. In configurations where stability is imperative, the presence of a bypass switch provides a valuable safety feature: you maintain control over the audio flow and avoid software issues causing the entire system to fail.

Who It's For and Use Cases: Live, Control Room, Broadcast, Installation, and Measurement

The RUio16-D is aimed at sound engineers, system technicians, integrators, and studios working with Dante networks who want to retain the flexibility of software processing. In live settings, it can serve as a gateway to insert a computer processing chain (EQ, dynamics, multi-effects, restoration, analysis) and send the result back to a Dante console, while keeping analog connectivity available for quick needs.

In broadcast and fixed installations, it becomes a reliable link for routing channels between the network and workstation or for setting up acoustic measurement, monitoring, and control stations. The presence of a 6.3 mm stereo jack output also facilitates monitoring or nearby connections without relying on a network patch.

Key Features: Professional Connectivity, Generous Channels, and Secure VST Environment

Dante 16x16 and USB 18x16: Plenty of Headroom for Routing and Processing

With 16 inputs and 16 outputs on Dante and 18 inputs and 16 outputs on USB, the RUio16-D offers comfortable routing capacity to simultaneously manage returns, processing buses, and measurement signals. This architecture allows scenarios where the computer becomes a full-fledged audio processor while integrating cleanly into an existing Dante infrastructure.

High-Quality Mic Preamplifier and Stage-Ready Analog I/O

The analog section focuses on essentials for quick integration: 2 female XLR inputs and 2 male XLR outputs, complemented by a 6.3 mm stereo jack output. The high-quality microphone amplifier provides a reliable entry point for a mic source, measurement, or utility capture without needing an external device. In a touring environment, this simplicity saves time and reduces potential failure points.

Two Ethercon Ports and USB-C: Connectors Designed for the Field

The presence of 2 Ethercon inputs is particularly suited to stage and event constraints, where mechanical security of network connections is a real advantage. The USB 2.0 Type-C port ensures a direct connection to the computer for audio and integration into your workflow, whether for processing, recording, or playback.

VST Rack Pro Included: Integrate Your VST Plug-ins into a Dante System

The RUio16-D comes with VST Rack Pro, a plug-in host software designed to create a true processing environment. The goal is clear: to allow you to use the VST plug-ins you already master (dynamics, EQ, spatialization, analysis, restoration) and insert them conveniently into an audio chain connected via Dante and/or analog.

In sensitive contexts, the bypass logic adds peace of mind: in case of a problem on the computer or processing side, the interface can bypass the plug-in section to prevent an incident from cutting sound across the entire system. This is a production-oriented approach, particularly relevant whenever audio continuity is paramount.
