A Custom Z Refined with Yamaha and Bobby Shew's Expertise
The YTR-8310Z belongs to the Yamaha Custom Z range, an iconic series focused on performance, especially appreciated in jazz, big band, and contemporary music settings. This second generation benefits from the latest design developments resulting from the collaborative work between Yamaha's research and development team and trumpeter Bobby Shew, based on numerous evaluations to refine response, projection, and overall balance of the instrument.
For Which Musician and Styles?
This trumpet is primarily aimed at advanced intermediate, advanced, and professional musicians seeking a responsive instrument capable of handling intense playing without losing precision. It excels in jazz (lead, improvisation, big band), but is also very comfortable in funk, soul, pop, stage music, and more broadly wherever a bright, dense, and projected sound is expected.
Sound and Design
In B-flat, the YTR-8310Z delivers a bright timbre and remarkable projection, with a crisp attack and excellent note clarity. The one-piece yellow brass bell contributes to immediate response and beautiful homogeneity, while the brace attachment on the side seam promotes freer bell vibration, opening up the sound. The choice of a French rim (semi-flat edge) improves playing comfort by directing more sound feedback to the player. The 11.3 mm bore helps balance power, control, and resistance feel. The silver-plated finish adds a premium look and a tactile feel appreciated on high-end instruments.
