Alpha Plus: the "large format" version of the Alpha in the AER range
The AER Alpha Plus retains the architecture and spirit of the Alpha, housed in a larger enclosure. This change in cabinet size is significant: it directly affects projection and tonal balance, offering a fuller low end and a more "filled" sound at the same volume level. If you appreciate the AER philosophy (clarity, precision, control) but want a bit more bass foundation to support vocals or carry an acoustic duo, the Alpha Plus is a logical evolution.
For which musicians and usage contexts?
Designed for acoustic instrumentalists and small ensembles, the Alpha Plus is especially recommended for acoustic guitar, vocals, and short-attack instruments (ukulele, mandolin, banjo, violin, harmonica). Its 40 W power and combo format make it an excellent choice for rehearsals, small clubs, coffeehouse gigs, indoor performances, or home practice with faithful sound reproduction. Thanks to its two inputs and DI, it is also well suited for singer-songwriters seeking a simple, quick-to-set-up, and clean front-of-house configuration.
Connectivity, controls, and features: a stage-ready combo
The Alpha Plus offers two input channels to easily handle an instrument and a microphone. Input 1 uses a combined XLR / 6.35mm Jack socket and can operate as a high-quality balanced line or microphone input; it provides 48 V phantom power, convenient for condenser microphones. Input 2, a 6.35mm Jack, is designed for high-impedance sources with high/low attenuation and a 9 V phantom power, useful for certain preamps or compatible microphones.
To shape your sound, you have a 3-band equalizer and a "Colour" function featuring a "mid-cut / treble-boost" filter, ideal for opening up the sound, improving clarity in a mix, or taming mids depending on the instrument and microphone used. On the effects side, the amp includes a digital reverb to add air and depth without needing an external pedal. Finally, connectivity includes a DI output and a line output to feed a PA system, a headphone output for discreet playing, as well as an external effects loop via send/return. A footswitch can control the activation/deactivation of the internal or external effect, allowing you to switch from a dry to a processed sound with a single tap.
Sound Character
Typical of a transistor acoustic amp, the AER Alpha Plus aims for a clean, detailed, and fast response, with controlled dynamics and excellent intelligibility. The twin-cone speaker promotes even dispersion and clear definition, highly appreciated for pick attacks, fingerstyle playing, or instruments with pronounced transients (mandolin, banjo). Compared to a more compact cabinet, its larger size provides a more present bass and a greater sense of body, useful for supporting vocals or giving acoustic guitar a solid foundation without artificially boosting the low end. On stage, the DI delivers a stable and usable signal to front-of-house while maintaining a natural and musical onstage monitor sound.
