Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

The Agean Jazz Mini Cup 24" belongs to the Natural series, an approach that highlights Turkish craftsmanship and a deliberately understated finish. Handmade in Turkey at Uzunkopru, it emphasizes handwork and an organic sonic identity, designed for drummers seeking a cymbal with character rather than standardized brightness.

Who This Drum/Instrument Is For

This ride cymbal is aimed at intermediate to expert drummers who want an expressive and nuanced cymbal capable of remaining clear at low volumes. It is particularly well-suited for jazz, hard bop, swing, blues, folk, and studio contexts where an authentic grain is desired. Its drier sound and controlled sustain also suit articulated playing (precise ride patterns, subtle comping) and setups focused on control.

Features and Innovations

The design is based on traditional manufacturing and manual hammering, providing a less uniform but much more musical response in dynamics. The unlathed surface contributes to a more direct attack and a rawer sound, while the 24" size offers a broad foundation under the stick, with a strong "cushion" feel during play. The Mini Cup designation indicates a smaller bell, designed to stay integrated within the spectrum without dominating, and to maintain consistent behavior when transitioning from ping to more accented hits.

Sound

Designed for a rather rustic sound, this ride develops a less bright, earthier tone with a natural rendering reminiscent of traditional handcrafted cymbals. The cymbal offers low brightness and short sustain : the sound settles quickly, facilitating the clarity of the ride pattern and avoiding cluttering the mix, especially at moderate volumes.

Thanks to the B20 Bronze alloy (80% copper, 20% tin, traces of silver), it delivers the harmonic richness typical of high-end cymbals, but here oriented towards a drier and more controlled output. The artisanal work and manual hammering promote a complex response, with micro-timbre variations that become very interesting on stick dynamics, brushes, and accents.
