An Analog Chorus in the BBD Tradition, Tailored for Bass

The chorus is one of the essential modulations: it thickens the sound, widens the image, and adds that "liquid" movement associated with both vintage tones and modern productions. The Chorusaurus fits into this lineage with an analog bucket-brigade approach, prized for its smoothness, slightly creamy character, and very natural way of blending into the playing. Within the Aguilar range, it positions itself as a chorus dedicated to bassists who want a true analog color while maintaining precision and foundation.

For Which Bassists and Styles?

The Chorusaurus is aimed at bassists who want to enrich their sound without falling into an overwhelming effect. It suits both intermediate and professional levels, thanks to simple yet highly expressive settings. Perfect for funk (slap plus "wide"), rock and alternative (thicker lines), pop (clean and modern textures), and jazz for subtle and elegant chorus effects. In the studio, it provides immediate width; live, it adds dimension to the bass while remaining clear in the mix, especially when the Blend is finely adjusted.

Settings and Operation: Simple on the Surface, Deep to the Ear

The pedal offers four complementary potentiometers. Blend controls the mix between dry and modulated signals: ideal for preserving the attack and fundamental of the bass while adding modulation. Rate adjusts the speed (from slow and dreamy to fast and vibrant). Intensity determines the modulation depth, ranging from a slight shimmer to a pronounced chorus. Finally, Width affects the effect's breadth and sense of space by widening the modulation field. Practically, the "gig-saver" bypass allows the signal to pass even if the battery dies, a real plus to avoid unpleasant surprises during gigs.

Sound Character

The Chorusaurus delivers a warm, dense, and organic chorus, with that BBD analog character that adds substance rather than "smoothing" the sound. It responds very well to dynamics: with soft playing, the effect can remain almost imperceptible and simply widen the bass; with a stronger attack, the modulation becomes more apparent and provides a deeper sense of movement. It is also appreciated for its ability to preserve the low end and note clarity, making it very effective on melodic lines as well as grooves. Among users spotted on pedalboards are Dallon Weekes, Felix Pastorius, and Paulo Jr., proving it covers both pop/rock universes and more aggressive contexts.
