Questions frequently asked
Which Ahead drumsticks are compatible with SST sleeves?
The SST reference is compatible with Ahead XLRS and XLRC drumsticks. Its stated diameter is 1.57 cm.
How to replace an Ahead SST sleeve?
The old sleeve is removed after slight heating, once the ferrule is unscrewed. The new sleeve can also be slightly heated to ease insertion. The aluminum ring must be in place before screwing the ferrule back on with a drop of super glue on the thread.
Are SST sleeves sold in pairs?
The packaging includes a pair of black polyurethane replacement sleeves.
When should an Ahead drumstick sleeve be replaced?
Replacement is recommended as soon as notches appear on the sleeve. A sleeve in good condition ensures consistent contact and helps protect both cymbals and drumheads.
Does the Ahead SST sleeve alter the playing feel?
Without changing the stick's shaft, the polyurethane sleeve affects the feel and attack. A properly fitted sleeve helps maintain consistent playing over time.
