The AirTurn BT500S-4 fits into a very current approach to "connected" playing: rather than adding an effect to the sound, it adds control comfort. The idea is simple: a robust pedal on the floor, capable of sending MIDI commands and keyboard-type messages to a tablet or computer, to manage sheet music, setlists, media playback, or automations.

Who Is It For and What Are the Uses?

It is particularly relevant if you play with a tablet (digital sheet music, teleprompter) or if you control a computer environment (playback, navigation, triggers, shortcuts).
In concert, the benefit is immediate: keep your hands on the instrument while managing page turns, launching media, moving to the next song, or sending MIDI commands to compatible software/equipment. The BT500S-4 can send different types of information: MIDI messages, MIDI notes, parameter changes, as well as keyboard messages. The four steel switches are programmable, allowing you to adapt the button logic to your application (navigation, triggering, transport commands, etc.).
You have seven operating modes to adjust the overall behavior of the pedal according to your setup. The Auto-Repeat function is ideal when you want to hold a switch to repeat an action (for example, scrolling or continuous navigation) instead of pressing multiple times.
Regarding Bluetooth, two pairing methods are provided: open pairing (useful if you use multiple devices over time, with up to 8 devices remembered) and closed pairing (useful if you want to lock the pedal to a single device to avoid unwanted connections in busy environments). Dedicated LEDs indicate Bluetooth status and low battery state.
Configuration and parameter adjustments are done via the AirTurn Manager App (iOS, MacOS, Android), to refine your workflow without complicating your on-stage setup.

Sound

The AirTurn BT500S-4 does not process the audio signal : no coloration, no compression, no distortion. Its impact lies elsewhere, often more decisive than an additional effect: smoother execution, better synchronized changes, fewer navigation errors, and a more confident performance.
