Summary of This Method

Designed as a simple and progressive method, this level 5 stage emphasizes note reading by interval landmarks, an essential reflex to gain autonomy at the keyboard. The goal is to consolidate rhythmic precision and intonation, while developing efficient gestures and a healthy playing posture, indispensable for approaching a more nuanced repertoire.

Throughout the lessons, the student discovers and practices ornaments (long appoggiatura, short appoggiatura, trill, mordent), as well as work on arpeggios and the A major scale. The method also explores the B minor and C minor keys to broaden harmonic understanding and reading in new key signatures. The introduction of styles and forms (minuets, sonatinas, preludes, arias) allows for interpretation with greater character, articulation, and phrasing.

To consolidate each concept as it appears, complementary books are announced as synchronized page by page with this level: Classic Themes, Ear Training, Merry Christmas, Recital, Repertoire, Theory, and Top Hits! Solo. The content is based on a selection of varied pieces, including notably: An American Hymn (Lowry), Aria from "The Marriage of Figaro" (Mozart), Bagatelle (Diabelli), Ballade (Burgmuller), Brazilian Holiday, Loch Lomond, Magic Carpet Ride, A Miniature Overture, Minuet (Bohm), Prelude in C Major (Bach), Prelude in C Minor (Morovsky), Rondeau (Mouret), Scene from "Swan Lake" (Tchaikovsky), Sonata in the Style of Scarlatti, Sonatina on Three French Folk Tunes, Sonatina, Op. 36, No. 1, 1st Movement (Clementi), Spanish Dance, The Tailor's Song, Theme (Corelli), Variations on a Sea Chanty, A Very Special Day (Palmer).
